A quiet place to rest

Mountains

Need to get away somewhere new?

Today about 2 p.m. I am taking off with my friend Diane to a ladies’ retreat at the Clarion hotel in Springfield, MO, and will be spending the night. The retreat’s theme is a “princess” one and all the ladies wear long, formal gowns and are “announced” to the guests as they make their entrance, before eating a nice buffet dinner. This is the first time in my life that I will be wearing a tiara, and it’s been years since I wore a floor-length, formal dress. I was happy that I found one on sale at David’s Bridal this week!

I will be videoing tonight and throughout tomorrow of the retreat, my friends, and me, and will be sharing them with you here soon, so stay tuned!

What about you?  Do you need to get away someplace new to get filled back up? (It’s been awhile for me!)  Maybe you can’t actually go out of  town right this moment.  But just remember that Jesus often went away to the mountains, to the garden, or someplace quiet to be alone with God and  pray.

He also invited his disciples to come away from the crowds and be refreshed after their hard work. Today find some time alone to rest in God’s sweet presence. Let Him refill and renew you with His love and His peace.

“The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”  So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.” (Mark 6:30-32)
