A singing tree

I’m thankful for the sunny weather lately after a cold, snowy, icy winter here in Kansas City, MO. Today I went to Walmart to buy lettuce for the tacos Ray requested tonight, and saw all the beautiful bouquets of flowers for Mother’s Day: glorious sunflowers, red, orange, and lemon yellow roses, lilies, and one of my fave flowers, daisies. They made me happy looking at them. Yes, I stopped to smell the roses today! Here were the tall yellow lilies outside:

When I came home, Ray wanted to show me something on the computer. You have to understand something about my husband. He has genius I.Q. and growing up in school, he was called a geek and a nerd. He loves science, technology, science fiction/fantasy books, anything really different.

 He never ceases to amaze me with how smart he is. He knows more about the Bible and history than anyone I’ve ever met. Don’t ever play Trivia Pursuit with him, because you’ll lose!

His intelligent mind works like a computer, storing all data away for immediate access later (he looks like a computer sometimes; you can see his brain tick-ticking, thinking), and he has an almost photographic memory.

When he showed this to me, I was a little amused as it’s not an everyday, normal, conversation maker: “By the way, did you know that trees sing?”

It makes sense, really. The Bible says that the heavens are telling the glory of God. (Psalm 19:1-4) The hills sing and the trees clap their hands (Isaiah 55:12), and all that jazz. 🙂 

The heavens declare the glory of God;
The skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

The sun. The trees. The mountains. The flowers. The stars.

You can find beauty all around you today. Just look for it; listen for it.
