The one thing that never changes

Spring is here, and the winds of March are blowing. Beautiful flowers are appearing in our yard.  I love each change of season, because the new seasons always give me a sense of expectation for new change, new hope. The seasons symbollize that things here on earth never stay the same.

This year I’ve experienced the loss of friends – two great men of God, Mike Fools and Jim Maher, and one awesome, new friend I made, Jessica Evans – to death. This morning at 2:45 a.m. our friend Debbie’s daughter Christen (I’m her second mom!) had a precious baby girl, Rosalin Nicole – 7 lbs 7 oz, 19 inches long.  Death, life…nothing stays the same.

I don’t know what winds of change this year will bring. But I am expecting great things to happen because God says in Jeremiah 29:11 that He has good plans for His children, to give us a future and a hope. No matter what lies ahead, our hope is in Christ.

We can hold onto that with confidence and with a sense of excitement because God is just waiting to bless His people who love and obey Him.  His promises are the one sure thing that never changes.

“You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.

For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. 24 As the Scriptures say,

 “People are like grass;
  their beauty is like a flower in the field.
  The grass withers and the flower fades.
  But the word of the Lord remains forever.”
