Right now I’m sitting at Brick House coffee shop in Harrisonville, MO, drinking a hot latte (with hazelnut and add cream, yes, please!). The barista did a beautiful job with the flower art on top. Love it ~ and it tastes yummy, too! (Although Brew Haven coffee shop in Butler, MO reigns supreme!)

It’s a great “vibe,” with the red brick building (interior and exterior), terra cotta, stone, tile floors, a huge chandelier, and a large arc for the entrance to the dining area — with comfy couches, chairs, and bookshelves, and even memorabilia to buy.

Leah & her boyfriend Raymond are traveling to Omaha, Nebraska, to see the zoo, museums, and other things there for a much-deserved vacation (they both work hard). My husband Ray, our daughter Heather, and our friend Shawn have been to the Omaha zoo and said it is great!
I hope that Leah and Raymond have a relaxing, fun time!

Jax is Leah’s sweet (and sometimes temperamental) fur baby. A precious black cat (now with some grey), she has some anxiety issues. If she feels very stressed, she will try to scratch the person. I’m thankful that today she only hissed at me a couple of times in the kitchen and then rubbed her tail against my legs. She is now snuggling and sleeping peacefully with Astrid on the couch.
I thought her facial expression when I took her pic on a bookshelf was hilarious. It’s like she is thinking, “Do you MIND?” I think that Jax feels the same way that my family feels about me: I take too many pictures! I won’t tell you how many pics and videos that I have stored on my iPhone! It’s a thing.

Leah got Jax when she was just a kitten. When she became older, Leah thought that Jax needed a sibling to keep her company as Leah worked at her work office throughout the day. Leah adopted Astrid from a shelter, a beautiful tabby kitten. Leah knew that she had to introduce them slowly, putting Astrid in the bathroom with food, water, a separate litter box, and the door closed and allowing Jax to sniff Astrid’s scent from under the door.
Eventually, Leah let Astrid outside the bathroom, to explore Leah’s apartment and to be around Jax in small doses of time. They are now friends –at least most of the time. (Sometimes they fight like sisters, Leah says!)

Hopefully, this weekend, they will get along. When I cat-sat them last year as Leah traveled to Japan for two weeks with Raymond and their other friends, both cats scared me so bad when they suddenly jumped on me on the bed in the middle of the night!

Before Leah moved out of Ray’s and my house in Butler, Missouri, I was inspired by my black (older) cat Natalya and Leah’s cat Jax, learning to adapt to each other. I wrote my first children’s book, based loosely on them. It is called, Nat and Jax: We CAN be friends!

Initially, they didn’t get along, but they learned to at least tolerate each other and sometimes they even seemed to be friends, laying on the couch together. Leah drew the cute cover, and I hired a graphic designer to illustrate the pictures for the Kindle eBook interior.
We have a red chair and Leah had a black love chest, like the ones pictured above. Jax would jump off the chair and seem to sail through the air, with Natalya watching her, startled at her seemingly acrobatic antics. It was hilarious! You can buy the Kindle eBook here at Amazon.
While I’m here at Leah’s new townhouse this weekend to watch and care for her cats, I plan to do some work. Today I have a different “view” and I’m working from Leah’s kitchen table. I love her brick fireplace and mantle.

She can put lots of cute decor on the mantle, like this ceramic flower and pot, that was her Mimi Judy’s who passed away a few years ago. I think it’d look great with Christmas decorations (one of my fave holidays to decorate our house).

Recently Leah bought a pretty, white island for her kitchen to store food and various things. She and Raymond put it together. This is definitely not my gifting. I would SCREAM doing this! But Leah and her sister Heather are good at things like this, and apparently Raymond is, too. I love it!

As I worked on this blog post, I ordered a Starbucks venti hot latte with Door Dash delivery. I made it a little different than the one this morning. I’ve been drinking entirely too many lattes today, although many Americans drink three or more cups a day on average when they are home. But tomorrow I’ll get back on track. I think Door Dash rocks! (It is expensive, though!)

Today I’m working with my amazing VA on “connecting the dots” to begin writing my website subscriber list’s newsletters on the Flo Desk * platform (moving it from Mailer Lite). Flo Desk’s aesthetics are beautiful and sometimes change is a good thing! I love the pretty fonts and templates that come with Flo Desk and can’t wait to get started!
