Christian writers and speakers…
As a writer and a speaker, you know that every word matters and has an impact.
In fact, all of Creation began with words.
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.” Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good.” (Genesis 1:1-4, NLT)
As Christian believers, and as communicators, we are made in the image of God. Our words, like God’s, are creative and powerful.
Our words can be used to uplift others, give hope, and impart life.
Or they can be hurtful, discouraging, and destructive. Which kind of words do you want to offer?
This is your invitation to make each word that you write and speak a gift to bless God and others.
The Gift of Words
Virtual Retreat
Thursday, December 17, 2020
10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Central Time
(8:00 a.m. Pacific, 9:00 a.m. Mountain Time, 11 a.m. Eastern Time)
After this hectic, crazy year, you need a chance to pull away from everyone and everything, and to be empowered to pursue your unique, God-designed purpose. It’s time to tell your story and to share your heart’s messages.
Do you desire to write and speak, sharing God’s messages of truth and hope with others? This retreat offers an opportunity for you to connect with published authors, speakers, and others who want to get the words out of their heads and hearts and put them onto paper (or laptop). You’ll be equipped and encouraged to follow God’s call on your life to share your story!
Speaking Sessions (Topics)
(NOTE: There will be at least 15 minutes between the 3 speaking presentations for you to have “mini-writing power sessions” to focus on your writing, and/or take a break to get a drink, eat, walk, or whatever you would like to do!)
Session 1 ~ 10:00 a.m. (Elizabeth Zacharais)
Breaking Free From The Giant of Fear, So You Can Release Your Words
All writers and speakers battle fears. Fear of rejection, that people won’t like your writing or your speaking presentation. Fear of no one buying your book. Fear that a reader will find a spelling, a grammar, or a factual mistake in your writing or speaking. Imposter syndrome. Even fear of success! Those fears can hinder or stop you from ever writing your book or speaking on stage or online. This presentation is about releasing your words and freeing you from fear. Elizabeth will give you practical steps to free you from the fear which keeps your words bound inside of you. It’s time to slay the giant of fear!
Session 2 ~ 11:00 a.m. (Missy Hoffman)
The Gift of Healing through Writing: Using Your God-given Gift to Help Bring Healing to Yourself and Others
What if you could do something to help another person find healing in the hard and broken places of her life? Would you take immediate action or sit on the sidelines and wait for the right moment? Missy learned a powerful lesson in the process of writing one of her books and she shares this lesson with her audience. The broken places in our lives and the hard emotional journeys we often endure are allowed by God, but they have a purpose. The words of our stories are a gift with the power to bring healing to brokenness. What will you do with the God-given gift of your story? It’s time to tell it!
Session 3 ~ 12 p.m. noon (Beth Jones)
The Power of Words
You and I were made in the Perfect Image of God. God began creation with His words. Your and my words have dynamic power, like God’s words do. As speakers and authors, we need to be aware of this, and to choose our words carefully…but to exercise the faith in Jesus within us and the courage to share our story and messages through speaking and writing. In this presentation, Beth shares examples from the Bible of three people who did not feel “qualified” to speak/write, yet God chose them and used them in incredible ways. God has given you His messages in your heart to share, to impact others in powerful ways, and a voice which needs to be heard. It’s time for you and me to “Go and tell!”
