Our beautiful cabin on our Grand Canyon trip for Leah’s college graduation

Where you stay on a vacation can be just as important as where you go and what you do. Originally  I had booked a hotel near the Grand Canyon when I planned a trip there with my husband Ray and our daughter Leah, to celebrate her college graduation with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Graphic Design.

But Leah searched online and found a big, beautiful cabin in a remote area near the airport in Flagstaff, Arizona  for us to stay at, and I’m so glad she did! Initially, I was concerned that it might be in the middle of dark, deep, scary woods and we might encounter grizzly bears and cougars at our cabin’s front door, LOL. Ray and Leah rolled their eyes at this!

It was remote, not not too remote—several vacation rental and residential houses were nearby, as well as a Dollar General store and a Shell gas station, which proved to be quite convenient for our water and snack needs and refilling the gas tank in our rented SUV, prior to returning it at the airport the early morning of our departure. Ray filled up the gas tank the evening before we left.

It was perfect for our vacation trip! The cabin was big, rustic, quiet, with cute nooks and crannies, and so comfortable with pretty decorations, like this pic below: “Not all who wander are lost.” I highly recommend this cabin, which can sleep up to 12 people.  The vacation rental agency has many more properties to rent, also. Our trip to Grand Canyon to celebrate Leah’s college graduation

Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon

Our youngest daughter Leah graduated this year (in spring 2021) from college with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Graphic Design. My husband Ray and our family are so proud of her for this huge accomplishment! Ray and I have rarely been able to take our children on vacation throughout the years, due to the expensive cost. But because Ray and I received our stimulus checks this year, we were able to travel to Arizona to visit the Grand Canyon to celebrate Leah’s graduation. What an amazing blessing from God!

New shoes

This year I am making my health and fitness a priority again, so I’m walking at the track and a pretty path in town, eating healthier, and  not drinking Dr. Pepper (a big challenge!). Yesterday I got to the track later and it began raining. It had rained on and off all day yesterday. At one point in the afternoon, there was sunshine so I sat outside awhile to soak up Vitamin D.

Before I went to the track, I had been “voxing” (Voxer app, like a walkie-talkie/text app for both iPhones and Androids) with my biz coach, Diane Cunningham Ellis. She was talking to me about my Nike shoes, which have been great walking shoes, but are several years old. Diane used to run marathons, 10K’s, and 5K’s.

Diane said that I needed to buy new ones with the best support and fit, and suggested that I google for a local running shoes store, where the staff helps you find shoes with the best fit and support. They actually watch you walk as you try on different shoes, to examine your gait, etc.
