Upcoming Book Launch!

The book launch for my new book, Promises In The Dark: One Woman’s Search for Authentic Love, is Monday, June 30. Whoo-hoo! It will be available in both print copy and Ebook on Amazon.

The book’s theme is God’s promises versus the world’s promises.

The world promises you many things, but leaves you empty. God’s promises are for real and forever.

 You can always trust and count on God!

Today as Leah and I were driving back home, there was highway construction. The left side of the highway had been paved, and the crew was about to pave the right side. A warning sign near the construction read, “Uneven lanes.” If we had tried to drive on the right side of the highway, it would have been bumpy!

The last several weeks have been hectic, with a few road bumps along the way in getting my book ready.

One of my team members emailed me yesterday, saying that that she is beginning to believe that Satan is fighting this book from being published to keep God’s word from going forth. This book glorifies Jesus Christ and he hates that.

For example, several technical issues are happening to possibly cause a delay in the physical printing of the book. (I’m praying the print book WILL be ready on launch date, June 30!)

The Ebook should launch on time on Amazon!

My sales page is written but not live yet, as I still need a link (url) for customers to buy the Ebook at Amazon.

Then today my website went down temporarily and this afternoon a family member started not feeling well. My family is an area where Satan knows I can become easily distracted.

I am beginning to feel physically drained from the long to-do lists I’ve had lately.

I’ve been a bundle of nerves the last couple of weeks – an emotional cocktail of excited, anxious, relieved, and expectant.

This book is the most transparent, open book I’ve ever written. Even some of my closest friends don’t know some of the things in this book, so I’m battling fear (of rejection and judgment for my past). This is another way Satan is trying to keep me from publishing. He won’t win. He’s a liar.

I believe God told me to write it.  I believe it’s going to impact lives, setting captives free, as I transparently share my story and about God’s redeeming love and forgiveness. God is Faithful. Even when we are not faithful – and I believe, especially when we’re not!

Please pray for me and my family and for the book launch!

To relax and get pampered, today I went with our daughter Leah to the hair salon. My wonderful hairdresser, Lori, is very friendly and outgoing. She chats a lot while she’s doing hair and is funny.

Most of all, she is flat out anointed to do hair. I wish I could carry her home so every morning she could brush and flat iron my hair with amazing hair products. I can never get it to do what Lori does. She did a great job cutting Leah’s hair today, too. Leah is so beautiful!

I think that the most important thing a woman can have- next to talent, of course- is her hairdresser. – Joan Crawford

But I digress! Back to the book launch…the celebrations!

Has someone ever given you a promise and broken it – and your heart? What about God – does He fulfill His word to you? I’d love for you to join me and other women of God to discuss this topic in the chat room on Sunday, June 29, at 3 p.m. CST,  for my free teleseminar to celebrate the book launch, Does God keep His promisesClick here to learn more about this call.

My virtual Facebook book launch event is Monday, June 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. CST. I’ll be giving away several copies of the Ebook!

All you have to do to enter the contest is join the event and leave a comment on the page that day. 🙂

While you’re there, enjoy your coffee or fave refreshing drink and the encouraging Scriptures that I’ll be posting there, as well as my new video exclusively for that event and day, You can count on God.

Come celebrate with me for the launch of this wonderful book!

Do you want to write a book?

Me with my first book, Walking with God

Me with my first book, Walking With God

Ever since I was a child, I’ve wanted to write a book. I’m now writing my 7th one (Promises In The Dark, coming soon!).

Book writing is rather addictive, like chocolate, cute shoes, or Lost.

You can write a book, too. It’s time, girlfriend!

According to a survey, 81% of Americans think they have a book in them and that they should write it.

Why do they want to write a book? Why do you?

Best-selling author Seth Godin says that writing a book is slow, hard, and a horrendous return on investment:

“The return on equity and return on time for authors and for publishers is horrendous. If you’re doing it for the money, you’re going to be disappointed. On the other hand, a book gives you leverage to spread an idea and a brand far and wide. There’s a worldview that’s quite common that says that people who write books know what they are talking about and that a book confers some sort of authority.”

Hugh McLeod shares these thoughts on why people want to write books:

A successful book agent I know tells me that at leat half the people he meets who are writing their first book, are doing so not because they have anything particularly interesting to say, but because the idea of “the writer’s life” appeals to them.

Tweed jackets, smoking a pipe, sitting out in the gazebo and getting sloshed on Mint Julips, pensively typing away at an old black Remington. Bantering wittily at all the right parties. Or whatever.

While I don’t have any tweed jackets, don’t smoke a pipe, and don’t care for Mint Juleps (although they look appealing), and I use a laptop rather than a Remington typewriter, I agree “the writer’s life” is appealing to many people.

You know, the beautiful woman writing a Barnes and Noble Top 10 romance book in her notebook or on her Ipad at Starbucks. Or the manic man who hasn’t slept in 17 hours, going on nothing but coffee and a ham and cheese sandwich on Wonder bread, writing his New York Times, best-seller science fiction story

The reality is that I (and many writers!) don’t get to Starbucks that often and that it’s hard work. But emotionally rewarding work. There’s nothing like the feeling of holding your “baby,” your own book, in your hands!

Other reasons for wanting to write a book may be:

  • You have a message burning in your heart that you want to share with the world;
  • For significance. The desire goes deeper than journaling. You want to know that your life really mattered. You want to share your life story with your children, grandchildren,and friends, leaving the imprint of your life and a legacy. Everyone has a story, and probably hundreds of stories to tell;
  • To express your frustrations at real people from real life by doing terrible things to your characters and making them suffer. You can break their hearts, harass them, injure them, or even kill them. (Hmm, sounds like a plan!) Maybe you’ve heard the humorous expression, “Careful or you’ll end up in my novel.” This is the dark side to writing;
  • To tap into your creativity and to let your imagination go wild, creating exciting new places, new people, wonderful, adventurous things that have never happened except in your own mind;
  • To share your expertise and teach;
  • To write poetry or songs;
  • To make people laugh;
  • To make people cry;
  • To compete with your spouse who writes books, too;
  • To avoid having a real job and real responsibility;
  • To share other people’s heart-touching,  inspirational stories like the Chicken Soup for the Soul series;
  • You want your book made into great chic flic movies, like Nicholas Sparks’ books (The Notebook, Safe Haven, Message In a Bottle, A Walk to Remember);
  • You think writing a book is cool and you want to brag to your family and friends about it, even if you never finish it. 🙂
  • You just love to write. You are compelled to write.You can’t imagine ever not writing. It’s your purpose and your calling from God. He made you to write.

Whatever your reason(s) for wanting to write a book, this is your time. This is your year! You can turn those writing dreams into reality.

To write a book, it’s like investing: you plan ahead, start early, and then start doing something instead of just talking about it.
