Our church is having a drama, Eternity, beginning tomorrow night November 1, and November 2 and 3. We all can’t wait -it’s going to be so awesome! Here is the way our beautiful church is decorated for it, with God’s throne in heaven.
Pastor and Mrs. Pack, who are putting on the drama (Mrs. Pack wrote it and they’ve been doing this in various churches for 30 years!), are using nearly everyone in our church and some people from our community in it, from a week-old baby boy portraying baby Jesus to the most senior citizen working the spotlight. Mrs. Pack asked me to play the role of a lead angel. This is the second time I’ve been an angel in a church drama. But this time I have a few more duties, such as escorting some people to heaven, passing out out the harps and the golden bowls for the prayers of the saints, and holding the Book of Life at the Judgment Seat of Christ. Being a writer in real life, I felt that being able to hold the big book was really cool! (Having wings is kind of fun, too, haha!)
My beautiful, new friend at church, Jennifer, is playing the other adult angel, and we can’t wait until it’s our time to come down the aisle to the upbeat, praise music; we plan to dance a little coming down the aisle as everybody in the audience is clapping and having a good time. The joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8: 10), and why let the heathens have all the fun? 🙂
There are more serious scenes, though. The drama depicts parts from the book of Revelation, and challenges the audience “Are you ready for Eternity?” Various death scenes are going to be shown of people stepping into eternity: two soldiers killed in war; a young couple having too much to drink, then driving and wrecking; a husband having a heart attack in church; a false prophet preaching in church falling over dead; a young girl having an abortion and dying; a teen’s party interrupted by a deadly tornado. Some will go to heaven, and others will go to hell.
Sometimes those who thought they were going to heaven -such as the prophet who was preaching! – are sadly mistaken, and hear the terrifying words from God the Father, “Depart from Me, I never knew you.” (Luke 13: 27) They are then thrown into hell by the judgment angel, with satan laughing at his latest “catch.”
In the end, though, satan himself is thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20: 10) Those who receive Christ live forever with Him in heaven (John 3: 16), where there is no more sorrow, no more tears or pain – only eternal joy and peace, worshipping Jesus forever! (Revelation 21: 4) God is the Almighty God and King, who reigns forever and ever. (Psalm 47:8)
I want to ask you, dear reader, because I really care. Are you ready for eternity right now? Have you said yes to Jesus?
“Companions as we are in this work with you, we beg you, please don’t squander one bit of this marvelous life God has given us. God reminds us, ‘I heard your call in the nick of time; The day you needed me, I was there to help.’ Well, now is the right time to listen, the day to be helped.” (2 Corinthians 6:1-3, The Message)
All who call on the name of the Lord Jesus will be saved! (Romans 10:13)
We are praying that there is a great turnout for this drama, and that many people are saved! Please say a prayer for God’s anointing upon us and for hearts ready to receive Jesus Christ tomorrow night, Monday and Tuesday night. Hopefully our daughter Heather can get some good pictures of the actual drama for me to post on here this week! It is going to be GREAT!
