Do you need new “glasses” for 2013?

Me with dilated eyes

This week our daughter Leah and I had our check-up at the eye doctor. At the end of the check-up, the doctor dilated our eyes to look inside them and to make sure they were healthy.

Even though later at the store the grocery store clerk told me, “You look like one of the vampires in the Twilight series” (eeek!), and one of my Facebook friends said, “It looks kind of creepy!” (gee, thanks!), I actually liked my pupils being bigger. Maybe it’s because I know that Ray as a man might be more physically attracted to me and view me as prettier with a doe-eyed gaze (see the 2nd paragraph of this article).

We had a good report at the eye doctor.  Our vision hadn’t become worse.

Like me, Leah does have a slight astigmatism in one eye. In January, she will be due for some new glasses frames paid for by our insurance, so we are waiting until then to get her new frames and lenses.

What is an astigmatism?  If the cornea (the clear tissue covering the front of the eye, which transmits light and protects the eye from infection and damage) doesn’t curve properly -if one half is flatter or steeper than the other – the light that hits it won’t refract properly and the retina at the back of the eye receives an imperfect image. The person will have blurred vision from that eye – astigmatism. People with astigmatism usually have an oblong instead of an oval-shaped cornea. (Resource: Wikipedia)

Is your vision blurred? Do you have spiritual or emotional astigmatism? Do you need new “glasses” for 2013?

This is a good time to look back over 2012 and reflect on the year.

Was it a fruitful year? Did you obey God and do what He told you to do?

Was it successful and prosperous – in your online business, personal finances, relationship with your husband, your children, and others, health, personal ambitions?

If you didn’t achieve your goals, what were the obstacles? What hindered or stopped you?

Do you need new glasses for the new year – a new “success” mindset?

Are there spiritual strongholds you need deliverance from? Limiting beliefs such as fear, intimidation, unworthiness that you need to overcome?

Do you need to get set free from the pain of the past?

Do you need to move from a poverty mentality to a prosperity and abundance mentality?

Are you seeing yourself the way God or others view you? Do you know your true identity through Christ?

Today or this week take some time to reflect on 2012, pray, read your Bible, and write down in your journal the areas in your life and business where you would like to see change.

Ask God to help you in these areas.

Learn new things. Ask for help, such as getting a mentor or hiring a coach.

Then take action steps to achieve your big dreams and your goals.

2013 can be your best year yet when your vision becomes clearer.
