What storm are you in now? Journaling questions from Facebook Virtual Book Launch

Storm TossedThis week I had my Facebook Virtual Book Launch Celebration for my first ever fiction eBook, Storm Tossed, which became an Amazon Best Seller in its category and sub-categories the FIRST day. Thank you for helping to make this possible!

During the launch, I shared encouraging Scriptures and inspiring quotes, and asked questions about storms. I thought I’d share them here with you for you to think, pray, and journal about today. Feel free to answer one or some of these in the comments below.

1. Have you been in a hurricane or another disaster? Share a little about it-what happened, when, and where?

2. What spiritual or emotional storms have you been through in life? For example, mine would be my difficult marriage with Ray for 23 years. We’ve faced his career struggles, financial hardship, foreclosure of our home, bankruptcy, health issues, and so much more. You can read more about this in my memoir, Promises In The Dark: One Woman’s Search for Authentic Love. (By God’s grace we’re still together!)

3. What did God teach you through the storm? Many of the women who attended the event said that they had learned to rely on God during their worst moments, to know that He would never leave them.

4. Is there anyone or anything you’re putting your faith or trust in other than God? For example, we so often turn to other people, sex, food, money/success, addictions such as alcohol, drugs or pornography, entertainment, careers or ministry, social media, etc., to try to fill up that black hole inside of us, which is a God-void.

5. What can you do to experience more peace in your life? Have quiet time with God first thing in the morning? Talk with a friend over coffee? Go for a walk? Get a massage? Read a good book? Watch a chic flic? Take a  hot bubble bath? Travel someplace new?

6. Rachel in Storm Tossed doesn’t listen to her husband Jackson, their daughter Faith, or anyone to evacuate before the hurricane hits. Do you have trouble listening to God or others? I know for myself, this is an area I struggle with, but I’m trying to become a better listener!

7. Rachel was afraid in the hurricane, even though she tried to have faith. All she needed was mustard seed size faith! What area of your life do you need to trust God more? Study the scripture Matthew 17:20. Maybe even buy a mustard seed necklace as a visual reminder to trust in God.

8. Faith keeps her feelings private, except with her mom. Do you have a close friend to talk with about your problems and your feelings? Remember that Jesus is your Friend. You can always come to Him and talk about anything.

9. Rachel travels to the ocean in Destin, FL, in Storm Tossed to get away from everyone and everything to really think and pray about everything. What is your dream spot, some place where you’d love to go away alone for a break?

10. What storm are you going through right now in your life? Jesus is right there with you, just as He was with the disciples in the boat when they were terrified they would drown. (Matthew 8:23-27)

Getting closer to launch!

I’m SUPER excited as it’s getting closer to my eBook launch time for my new eBook, The Cinderella Story: The Power of Shoes! My amazing graphic designer, Christine Dupre, finished the cover and did a BEAUTIFUL job!

I took an informal vote on Facebook and the cover below won the most votes. What do you think of it?

I’m using the other cover option Christine designed for my next eBook in this series called The Cinderella Story: The Power of Dreams. It was so hard to choose between the two, as they are so amazing and the vote was close. So I’m using BOTH!

My editor/formatter, Hanne Moon with Heritage Press Publications, has my manuscript. She’s waiting on the efile from the converter and it’s being converted into an eBook now and in mobi format for KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) on Amazon. You can independently publish on KDP to reach potentially millions of readers!

This is one of the fastest books I’ve ever written. I wrote it in 4 days!

Although I already had a lot of content from my signature talk with the same  name, I had to do research, find Scriptures, write more and pull it all together. I didn’t think I could write it that fast, but God helped me and I did it! Woot!

My writing/business coach, Shelley Hitz

My writing/business coach, Shelley Hitz

I’m in my writing/business coach Shelley Hitz‘s Author Audience Academy 3-month writers’ training, and she has motivated us to write our books quickly.

Shelley is a successful Christian speaker/author, who’s written over 35 books and her husband CJ has written books. She said together, they earn enough in royalties for their eBooks on Amazon to pay their basic bills! You can find her books at Amazon here.

Shelley did say during the summer, sales tend to slow down so she has other income streams, such as speaking and coaching. But when I heard she had this much success from eBooks on Amazon, I knew she was onto something and that I had to take her training! And I LOVE it! She’s an amazing instructor and coach.

Some of the other students in Shelley’s training program already have their eBooks live on Amazon, such as Lucille Zimmerman’s What Does God Say About Suffering, Ruth Snyder’s Learn Twitter: 10 Beginning Steps, and Mel Edwards’ The Bold Way: Find, Claim, Live Your Truth.

I can’t wait for mine to go live to share it with you! I’ll let you know as soon as it’s ready!

“There is One whose promises you can count on. His name is God. He is faithful and true. God’s promises are for real and forever.” – Beth Jones, Promises In The Dark: One Woman’s Search for Authentic Love.

The world promises you so much…and leaves you empty. Sex. Success. Money. Alcohol. Drugs. Education. Entertainment. Being the best spouse or parent. You’ve tried many different things that the world offers and promises you to give you happiness, but they’ve left you empty and unsatisfied. Always searching, never finding what you’re looking for. But there is One whose promises you can count on and who will fulfill you. God’s promises are for real and forever. Beth Jones is a woman who was searching for authentic love. Transparently sharing her painful, arduous journey of childhood abuse, 3 abortions, and adulterous relationships to the strong faith she has today in Jesus Christ, Beth guides you on a journey of discovery that Jesus is Authentic Love and you can always trust God’s promises.

“Promises In The Dark is Beth’s life story of warfare and triumph. She shares part of her life that not many would admit, only for the glory of God. Beth is brilliant in showing that no matter how hard or terrifying life may get, God is always present with unconditional love that no human can give. Promises In The Dark enlightens you with the power of God’s Word and promises that confronts all darkness.” – Rochelle Valasek, Doctor of Divinity, Speaker/Author/Spiritual Health Coach, www.RochelleValasek.com.
