God’s weapon of prayer

Beth and Ray Jones

Today Ray and I went to our town’s courthouse, and joined others to pray for our nation.  There was only a handful of people present, but I believe in my heart that God heard our prayers and will answer.  There were eight areas we specifically covered in prayer for our nation:

  • Government
  • Church
  • Military
  • Family
  • Health Care
  • Education
  • Media/Entertainment
  • Israel
  • Business

Eva Jantz, head of the National Day of Prayer committee, asked me to pray for the area of education, which I was honored to do.  To Ray’s surprise, she asked him to do the “Prayer for the nation” at the beginning of the meeting, because the man who was originally appointed to do this couldn’t make it today.  This prayer Ray gave  is the responsive prayer given by Franklin Graham, Honorary Chairman of the National Day of Prayer and President & CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

Remember that God hears your prayers. You are God’s weapon of prayer:  “He says, “You are My war-club, My weapon of war; And with you I shatter nations, And with you I destroy kingdoms.” (Jeremiah 51:20, NASB)

Below is a brief video clip of Rev. Curtis Townley – head of the Missions department for a Southern Baptist organization in the local area – praying outside the courthouse today. He was one of several people there from different churches, who had our nation on their hearts and took their lunch hours to pray.
