Mercy mission -pray for Heather

Our beautiful daughter Heather

Our beautiful daughter Heather

Our oldest daughter Heather has been sick the last several days with a sore throat and fever. The tests at the medical clinic were negative for flu and strep. But she’s been miserable.

She hasn’t had much sleep the last 2 nights, and her text today read: “Fever is gone but I still feel crappy. I feel like my head’s going to explode and my throat is closing up. My whole body aches. “

I read the text to my husband Ray and he said, “So drive to her house and fix her chicken soup.” I looked at him and he said, “I know you, Beth.” I then told him I’d actually been thinking about doing just that. And I did.  It was my mercy mission for today. I wish so much I could take away her pain and make her feel better!

So I packed a care package for her with extra strength benadryl, some apple cinnamon herbal tea, and stopped on the way by Quick Trip to buy her  a drink Ray suggested, a Marley’s Mellow Green Tea with Honey that has green tea, honey, camomile tea, and valerian root (Valerian is an herb. Medicine is made from the root. It can be used to help with sleep and muscle and joint pain.)

She recently order the physician’s kit from doTerra Essential Oils. According to my doTerra consultant friend Shelley Valasek, the best oils to use for symptoms like Heather’s are:

  • 4 drops Frankincense
  • 4 drops OnGuard
  • 4 drops Oregano. Put these 3 oils in a capsule, and take 3 times a day. May take about 3 days to get totally well.
  • For symptoms: Inhale some Breathe or put 3 drops each of Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint in 1/2 oz water. Swish in mouth for 20 seconds before swallowing.

Heather also has a humidifier, honey and lemon to drink with water, throat lozenges, and Epsom salts, baking soda, and lavender oil for a warm bath soak on hand.

Today at lunch I fixed her chicken noodle soup and a grilled cheese sandwich, comfort, healing foods, because that is what moms do. She may be grown, but she is still my child. As soon as I got there, I laid hands on her and prayed for her. I encouraged her to just rest.

“The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective.” – James 5:16, NRS

After we ate our grilled cheese sandwiches, I sat down awhile and we just talked  – something I always love doing with her!

Please keep Heather in your prayers. Her daughter Annabelle began running a fever today, too so pray for her as well.
