My one word 2023: Light

How is your 2023 going so far? Before the beginning of each year, I reflect on that year and pray about the coming year. God often begins speaking to me a “one word” before the beginning of each year which serves as a theme throughout the year, and He usually also gives me a Scripture or two for the year.

Sometimes He gives me a song to go with the one word. (I stopped making new year’s resolutions years ago because I often broke them within the first month — or the first week!)

Let your light shine image

My one word for 2023 is “Light.”

The two Scriptures for this one word are John 1:5 and Daniel 12:3.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)

“Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.’ (Daniel 12:3)

What’s new: my last Vlogmas of 2022, Cultivate speaking event, my new book, and one-word 2023

Hi there! I’ve got several exciting things to share with you today!

First, here’s my last Vlogmas 2022 (vlogs that are about Christmas – a vlog is a video + a blog). I share about creating a miniature Christmas tree for our daughters Eden and Leah from Ray’s mom’s (their “Mimi”) Christmas crafts. She made me one with bears when Ray and I first married, and made another with snowmen that I gave our daughter Heather when mom passed away, as Heather (and I) loves snowmen.

You can see the finished adorable trees, as well as me wrapping and mailing gifts, and our daughter Leah’s, Ray’s, and my Christmas gifts we got, set to Christmas music, on the vlog.

I’m still learning HOW to vlog, but it sure is FUN! I’ve been watching other vloggers on YouTube about Vlogmas & travel vlogs.

Below is the link to my last Vlogmas of 2022:

Do you need a miracle or two? I know I do! Don’t we all?

A miracle is defined as:

  • a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency;
  • a highly improbable or extraordinary event, development, or accomplishment that brings very welcome consequences;
  • an amazing product or achievement, or an outstanding example of something;
  • a wonder; a marvel;
  • an effect or extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers and is ascribed to a supernatural cause;
  • such an effect or event manifesting or considered as a work of God.

2022

At the end of each year, I reflect on that year and pray about the coming new year.

For the last several years, instead of making new year’s resolutions, I ask God for a “one word” and an accompanying Scripture for the year.
